Esto me recuerda: si usáis un smartphone con #Android (o cualquier SO derivado de #AOSP)

1. Marcad en el dialer *#*#4636#*#* (algunos forks propietarios deshabilitan el menú que lanza esta marcación; si no os sale, pasad al paso 3)
2. En los ajustes que os saldrán, buscad Set preferred network type y seleccionad NR/LTE (5G y 4G respectivamente) o LTE only si no contáis con 5G.
3. Como extra, en Ajustes > Redes e Internet, si os sale el menú Seguridad de redes móviles, marcad la Protección de redes 2G.

Si usáis #GrapheneOS, la opción de seleccionar solo 4G y/o 5G las podéis encontrar también en Ajustes > Redes e Internet > SIMs > {$operadora} > Tipo de red preferido
De paso, activad #VoLTE y #VoWiFi si no lo tenéis aún.

La infra telefónica sigue siendo insegura y se debe considerar no confiable: esto es solo reducción de daños al deshabilitar #2G y evitar sus múltiples inseguridades salvo cuando llaméis a Emergencias, que bajará a 2G independientemente de toda esta configuración.

Доброго времени суток уважаемый читатель. В данной статье я хочу поделиться моим опытом запуска лаборатории технологий мобильной сети в домашних условиях. Не буду вдаваться подробно в настройки (как настроить Open5GS или проект osmocom можно нагуглить без проблем), статья планируется все же обзорная. Позже, если будет время и заинтересованность читателей, возможно напишу более подробно – с настройками, дампами сигнального обмена и прочее. Надеюсь, моя работа вдохновит вас тоже на подобные поиски и развитие в направлении технологий связи.

Seeing what it takes for #VoWiFi to work, all the different things the phone talks to: IPsec to ePDG, IPsec to P-CSCF, AKA auth everywhere, SIP for call establishment and sending/receiving SMS messages (which are still encoded like good ol' GSM underneath). There's so many moving parts in modern mobile networks! Big respect to those who understand how all of that works.

With the shutdown of #3G and most of #2G in #Sweden I lost the ability to make phone calls on my roaming SIM. Not that I do it much, very rarely in fact, but would be nice to be able to do it when I need it.

My carrier seems to have an ePDG, so #VoWiFi could be an option. And then I found out that there is an open source IMS client stack: https://osmocom.org/projects/foss-ims-client/wiki/VoWiFi_with_Asterisk

Could be a weekend project at some point perhaps 🤔
