Spent much of the morning (after watching a MLKjr documentary with the kids for school) playing with #VitalSynth following along a video tutorial by Akash Thakkar for doing sound design with synths.
I've been meaning to dig into Vital for quite a while; this was a good way to do it.
Even the free version is quite powerful, and actually somewhat user-friendly.
Almost every day now I get at least one email that someone has downloaded my #VitalSynth preset pack, and it's quite encouraging, even if it's just for free.
It has given me more impetus to work on more synth patches and samples, and I look forward to sharing those soon.

Vital is a free and open-source software synth available on Windows, Mac, and Linux.In this free preset pack, you'll get 24 patches. There's a B3, a few quirky organs, some 808s and basses, and deliciously "analog" pads and leads.To install the presets, unzip the .zip file. Open Vital. i tried really hard to realistically mimic the sound of a real piano with inharmonic partials. suffice to say it failed, but not all is lost! i got this rad e-piano sound from it.
