For the final day of #VirtualArtOfNeuro and #WIPwednesday, here is my current #embroidery in progress, a #VagusNerve. #SciArt

Another scientist for #VirtualArtOfNeuro - #neuroscientist Hendrik Van der Loos (1929-1993) shown in my print with his discovery (along with med student Thomas Woolsey), of the barrel cortex, plus the mouse head & whiskers linked directly to it.

Some species of rodents have a region of the somatosensory cortex that was named the #barrelcortex after its shape, which contains the barrel field.

For day 3 of #VirtualArtOfNeuro, my #symptomatology #embroidery sensorium (2016) illustrates the hypersensitivity of my neurology since the onset of #MECFS. #SciArt

I thought I would share my portrait of neurologist Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852 - 1934) for #VirtualArtOfNeuro. It shows him as a young man in front of Purkinje and granule cells from a pigeon, based on one of his own drawings. 🧵1/2

For day 1 of #VirtualArtOfNeuro here is my most brainlike piece, she was tributaries (2016). The neurons are based on a drawing by Ramón y Cajal, and the piece evokes the electricity I feel when I have brain fog. #MECFS #SciArt #symptomatology #embroidery
