I'm watching Violent Night on this rainy Christmas Eve and I somehow completely forgot about the very funny cold open. I haven't seen this since the theater, but remembered liking it enough I grabbed the 4k release when I found it on sale.

I think I'll follow this up with Gremlins or Scrooged if I'm not too tired.

On reflection, I think that #ViolentNight is best described as what the first two Die Hard movies would have been like (it being an obvious homage to them) had they actually been #ChristmasMovies.

Content warning: There are no city women going to spend the holiday in small town U.S.A., no cute meetings with initially annoying men, no gingerbread making contests, no tree lighting, no shopping, and no kiss in the final scene. There's not even a pseudo-British royal family, or a money-making tradition to save, or middle-aged actors playing people in their twenties.

But there is a Santa Claus with all of the accoutrements. Although xe does not drink Coca-Cola.
