Who's got any tips on why the colour saturation on this little 7-inch TFT monitor is so poor? It was originally built for use in the broadcasting industry, I think, with its BNC and S-Video connectors. It could be twenty years old or more.
It's a RON-6070. I've opened it up to see if there are any obviously failing electrolytic caps, but they all look good to me.
What do you think? What else should I check?
(The image is otherwise clean and stable. I've been using the S-Video input with an Atari 140XE which has correctly saturated output over the same interface and connector on a different monitor.)
Suddenly a loud bang from the lab at the local #hamradio club ‼️ 💥🤯
Luckily nothing happened to the people in there, but I guess it’s safe to say that this vintage capacitor decided to quit its job 😂
Always wear safety glasses 🥽 when testing and troubleshooting #electronics, especially if it’s vintage gear where you have no knowledge of its state and health☝🏼
