#VineyardWind1 just became the US's largest operating #offshore #windfarm
Sustainable energy company #Avangrid and green investors Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners today announced that at #VineyardWind 1 project five more #windturbines came online so Vineyard Wind 1 is now delivering more than 136 megawatts (MW) to the electric grid in #Massachusetts. (#NewYork’s #SouthForkWind, the US’s first complete utility-scale #offshorewind farm, is 132 MW.)

The first five #offshorewind turbines at #VineyardWind1 in Massachusetts have powered up. The 13MW #windturbines are now delivering around 65MW of clean energy to the #NewEngland #electricalgrid, enough to power 30,000 homes and businesses in #Massachusetts. Nine turbines are installed, and 10th is underway. The 11th turbine is about to be transported to the offshore site. Each #GE #HaliadeX turbine has a 220m (722ft) rotor, 107m (351ft) blades, and is 248m (814ft) tall.

The first of 62 #GE #HaliadeX #windturbines at #VineyardWind1 is complete. The announcement says the “fully assembled machine represents the largest turbine in the western world.” It has a 220-meter (722-foot) rotor, has 107-meter (351-foot) blades, and is 248 meters (814 feet) tall, can't wait for the full #WindFarm to be ready!
