Sustainable energy company #Avangrid and green investors Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners today announced that at #VineyardWind 1 project five more #windturbines came online so Vineyard Wind 1 is now delivering more than 136 megawatts (MW) to the electric grid in #Massachusetts. “At this point, there is no scientific evidence that noise resulting from offshore wind site characterization surveys could potentially cause mortality of whales,” NOAA states. “There are no known links between recent large whale mortalities and ongoing offshore wind surveys."

A huge new 1.2 GW #offshore #windfarm is headed to #NewEngland
#VineyardOffshore, which developed #VineyardWind 1, has submitted a proposal for a 1.2GW offshore #windfarm to three New England states.
Proposal is for #VineyardWind2, and it was put forward in response to a solicitation from #Massachusetts, #Connecticut, and #RhodeIsland for up to 6.8GW of #offshorewind. It was proposed to each state and to the three states together under New England solicitation process.

The announcement says the “fully assembled machine represents the largest turbine in the western world.” It has a 220-meter (722-foot) rotor, has 107-meter (351-foot) blades, and is 248 meters (814 feet) tall, can't wait for the full #WindFarm to be ready!
