Deep Listening Day #38 — Björk: Vespertine (2001). another first listen. been frequent the last few days. the word ethereal comes to mind. I can't say I didn't enjoy this, but I think it will take a few more spins to say more than that. I will replay.

I will dream

with a sultry feminine
vampire #vespertine concubine
who will suck
the last remnants
of my essence dry
as I achieve
the peak of carnal ecstasy
But this fantasy
is so much more
than a sweaty
stained sheet ejaculation
My sweet vixen
sent by the forces of darkness
will liberate me
from my bleak mortality
and I will finally be free
to fly the night
for all eternity
like a nightbird phoenix
with my newfound
insatiable bride
Björk described "Vespertine" as her winter album - the opera based on her album will soon celebrate its premiere at Theater Bonn. We got an impression during the first rehearsals under the musical direction of Hermes Helfricht.
