#ObjectSpotlight on this 1973 #NYTMCollection car card that encouraged New Yorkers to visit Fort Hamilton Park by subway. The image highlights the beautiful view of New York’s harbor that can been seen from the waterside parks and playgrounds on the #Brooklyn side of the #VerrazzanoBridge.
On this day November 21 in 1964, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge opened in New York. It’s the longest suspension bridge in the United States and spans the narrows that separate Upper and Lower New York Harbor between Brooklyn and Staten Island. The bridge is named after Giovanni de Verrazzano, an Italian explorer who is credited with being the first European to sight New York harbor in 1524. #newyork #verrazzano #verrazzanobridge #italian #OTD
