And as a bonus after leaving the Nordsternpark behind following and finally crossing the Rhine-Herne Canal over the canal bridge you enter the city #Essen and approach the #Schurenbachhalde, a former spoil heap.
Like most former spoil heap it's now a mostly green hill in the landscape with an artwork on top and a fascinating view of the sourroundings.
From here you can see the #Nordsternpark and the #VeltinsArena of the local soccer club #Schalke04 in #Gelsenkirchen, the still active coking plant #Prosper in #Bottrop, the coal mine and coking plant #Zollverein in Essen, the Skyline of Essen including the city hall and the RWE Tower and the #Gasometer #Oberhausen.
