[3/3] The third and final day had the least elevation gain, but it featured a long, gentle descent back to Plettenberg—and, once again, a few sections of hike-a-bike. At the end of the second day, because I was riding like an idiot as usual, I got a puncture that wouldn't seal. Luckily, I had some duct tape with me to prevent another fountain of sealant 🙈. Since it was already quite late when we arrived in Sondern for lunch, we took a shortcut that saved us a climb and a few kilometers.

[2/3] Day two took us from Winterberg to the Rhein-Weser tower, where we stayed at “Zur Hahnenquelle”, whose owner was very hospitable and whose chef cooked superbly. The trails were very comparable to last year’s Devils Trail (https://youtu.be/IAz5fk0KgTM), but mostof the climbs (and descents) were significantly shorter.

After taking a few test trips last year – some of them with borrowed gear – I finally have everything I need now. And it worked out quite well (but not perfect ... yet).

My bike light's position on the handlebar prevented me from using handlebar bags for bikepacking.

So I cut the cables and soldered SON coaxial connectors onto them. I also soldered two extension cables together, one of which I fitted with a splitter. I can connect a V4.0 bike charger to it to charge my devices. The light is mounted on an Aero Mount at the front of the bag.

It actually works, and I’m pretty proud of it. :-)

After the thaw and the rainy days, most of the trails were pretty dry again last week. Only this forest trail in the Mansholter Holz, churned up by heavy machinery, was a total mud fest.
