You ever have one of those days where you try something new in the kitchen, and end up just hitting it OUT OF THE PARK somehow? That was today for me.

I had a ton of lentils in the fridge that needed eating up, so I processed them into veggie "meat" balls, fried them up, and had them with leftover naan and a little plain yogurt. The bowl on the bottom here has a kale/cabbage salad with ginger dressing, cut up halo mandarins, and pecans from my tree outside. It was amazing.

Change my view: All lentils are the same. Red, green, yellow, or brown, they all turn the same baby diarrhea color when cooked. (I refuse to believe black lentils exist.) There is no discernible difference in flavor from one variety to the next.

I have been corrected by hubby. Apparently it's only shepherd's pie if it's made with lamb or mutton. If beef, it's cottage pie, he says.

Well, ours is fava bean (härkäpapu). What's that then? Cozy pie? Bean pie doesn't sound right at all.
