A food system that destroys its own fertility isn’t ethical, no matter what it produces.

Living mulch for asparagus? Will it work or just overrun the plants?
I've just spent 3 hours weeding the asparagus, and while it was good to think about that instead of the clown show in DC for a while, it's not therapy I want to repeat too often.
I'm wondering about using white Dutch clover to fix nitrogen as well as keep down weeds. ??

I made pasta sauce from mostly home-grown veggies today and now I'm considering planning next year's garden around specific recipes. There's something so satisfying about an entirely 'grew it myself' dish. There are a lot of ways to plan a vegetable garden and this is one that's got a certain appeal.
Based on my recipe, I would grow:
roma tomatoes (lots)
garlic
parsley
celery
basil
rosemary
thyme
carrots
If I wanted to make salsa too with the romas I'd need to add cilantro and chili peppers. (And limes ideally but they are hard to grow in our climate)
(okay and cumin but IDK a thing about what that entails. I'm assuming it needs a warmer climate that we've got)
Eeeeeee! First pea pod!!!!!!!!! I'm not 100% sure it was done growing but I was too impatient. I can't wait to see what fresh peas taste like (I don't like peas, but I'd never even seen fresh ones before growing my own).
Early morning walk here, surrounded by the sound of chiff chaffs, blackbirds and skylarks, misty sunrise, just beautiful.
Busy sowing seed in the greenhouse this morning before it warms up more. 20c here in Suffolk today, amazing.
I have promised myself some chill time later, just started Dark Age by Pierce Brown which promises to be good...

Overnight cucumbers! 48 hours ago, this section of the garden was only dirt. 24 hours ago, suddenly seedlings. They're even taller than the photo now - growing 1-2 cm a day, which is unreal. First time veggie garden so I don't know if this is normal for cucumbers, but it sure is exciting.

Kann mir jemand sagen, was mit meinen physalis nicht stimmt? Oder ist das normal, dass die Keimblätter welken?
