Snowstorm in Varenna, Italy
We came to a halt for a few days in Varenna and set off to explore the network of paths behind the town. When you journey on foot, a place reveals its intimate secrets to you – the back lanes and forgotten ways. Despite linking directly to the old town and the busy interchange of the railway station and ferry dock, the paths were quiet. Later in the week, we would walk for a whole day without passing anyone.
