cabosanroque & Studio Animal's Trànsit was a very brave choice from Re.Light's curator Nika Perne. It consisted of a bunch of traffic lights flickering away, companied by quite a loud soundscape. Personally, I hated it (mind you, there were opposite opinions in our group as well), but I also was very happy that artworks like that are chosen for a festival, and not just reliable people pleasers. Well done!

Whenever I notice an open call for a light art event, I post it here. But since I'm lazy, I just post very basic info and a link. Which is: https://lightupthenorth.com/lightpool-artist-opportunities/
Note: this one has several opportunities, most of them for UK based folks.

The most interesting thing about Sebastian Kite's Inner Time was it's audience – and their shadows. People stared at the light like it was an ancient power of some kind, bringing light after the long winter, and the slowly moving constellation of long shadows became almost a rite. A very good idea to give audience a chance to see the artwork from above!

Seen at Re.Light festival in Regensburg.

Margareta Hesse's No barrier is one of my favourites, and luckily I've had a chance to see it several times, since it seems to be everyone else's favourite as well. The idea is simple: the laser shuts down as soon as something / someone hits it, making the artwork both safe and a metaphor of borders and limits being often quite imaginary (the latter being my interpretation). Seen at Re.Light festival in Regensburg.

Well here's some conceptual light art for you!

In Jason Dodge's 'Darkness falls on Dobeinitz 18, 9074 Dobeinitz, Austria', we see every little thing that produces light in a house in – you guessed it – Dobeinitz area, Austria. Even if there is not light as a material in the piece, light is very much present in a thematic level. I'm sure I'll have an interesting conversation with a dear colleague about this artwork being light art or not.

This was the third time I saw Jeremy Shaw's Phase Shifting Index, and I'm sure there will be more. Compelling, clear idea and a proper mayhem in the end. What's not to like?

Detlef Hartung's piece in Media Art Days in Videbæk was based on letters, as his works often are, and the whiteness of the enclosed yard made it enjoyable sharp.
