I am almost certain we have all three of these blueberries/bilberries: Vaccinium uliginosum, Vaccinium cespitosum, and Vaccinium deliciosum(Cascade bilberry). Its just that last one that I need to go check when the snow melts.

The plant range maps are laughable. Its like nobody hikes random mountains anymore.

I found this bumblebee (genus Bombus) clinging to the back of a red huckleberry leaf (Vaccinium parvifolium). It's bumblebee season at last!

Blueprint for blueberry improvement: Genetic and epigenetic discoveries

Blueberries, part of the Vaccinium genus, are renowned for their nutritional benefits and increasing global demand. However, cultivation faces challenges like climate adaptability and fruit quality. Modern blueberries have a short domestication history, primarily through interspecific hybridization. These challenges necessitate deeper research into the genetic and epigenetic factors influencing blueberry traits.

First report on telomere-to-telomere gap-free reference genome of wild blueberry (Vaccinium duclouxii)

Blueberry, a common Vaccinium species with small-sized berries, is known for its delicious taste, balanced sweetness and acidity, and rich nutritional content. It is abundant in various vitamins and antioxidants. However, the limited genetic resources for cultivated blueberries have significantly hindered their development and utilization. Therefore, utilizing wild blueberries' genetic resources for breeding is paramount to enhancing the resilience and quality of cultivated varieties.
