Today, we recognize the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS and the urgent need for a safe and effective vaccine. World AIDS Vaccine Day honors the dedication of scientists, healthcare workers, volunteers, and advocates striving to end this global epidemic.

Despite advances in treatment, nearly 40 million people live with HIV worldwide, with over a million new infections every year. A vaccine remains crucial for lasting protection and to ultimately eliminate HIV/AIDS.

Let’s raise awareness, support research funding, and promote equitable access to future vaccines. Together, we can build hope for a future free of AIDS.

Humoral Immune Response to Orientia tsutsugamushi Infection: Recent Research Findings and Future Studies

Orientia tsutsugamushi ( Ot), an intracellular bacterium in the family Rickettsiaceae, is the etiological agent of scrub typhus. Understanding of the immunologic responses to Ot infection, particularly immunity after infection, has remained a major knowledge gap. Although anti- Ot IgG appears to be short-lived in infected humans, recent studies have reported autoreactive IgM antibodies in people with scrub typhus, including antibodies reactive to nuclear components, DNA, and platelets. However, mechanistic studies of B cell responses in the secondary lymphoid organs of infected humans are severely lacking. This article highlights feasible methods to investigate important aspects of humoral immunity, and avenues to obtain samples from post-mortem and ante-mortem Ot-infected people. A pioneer study identified that serum passive transfer could protect against homologous Ot challenge. Studies comparing humoral immune responses to Ot Karp versus Gilliam strains have revealed impaired B cell and germinal center (GC) responses during severe, but not self-limiting, infection in C57BL/6 mice. Further studies are needed, particularly in people with scrub typhus, to help understand and define deficiencies in the acute B cell response and long-lived humoral immunity.

We are back to the dangers that will be unleashed because of the foolhardy decisions of a few. The entire healthcare, academic and life sciences industry in the US is in turmoil and clinical trials, pharmaceuticals and general practitioners are going to be decimated. It's almost as if the last half-decade of covid never happened! Dismantling of the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy, cutting funding to NIH, it's the same playbook that got us into this mess. Of course, all of us in the know saw this coming and it's playing out exactly as expected. I will no longer participate or sacrifice a drop of sweat, blood or tears. We've lost too many good people, family, friends, time with loved ones and ourselves.
It was all lies and propaganda until the people making these decisions started dying... Even on their death beds they thought horse medication would save them. You cannot rationalize or have useful conversation with the clinical definition of an idiot. The laws, rules and regulations that protect the US, managed and put forth by our elected officials based on the people are all effectively dead. I'm not so naive to believe this wasn't always the plan but now that we are here, it should be obvious to anyone, we are on our own. It's time we all started acting that way.

[5] Then there is the #money portion of this debate. They want to strip #VaccineResearch away from the public. They claim its to better direct resources. We know that is a lie. This is shown by their recommendation that only 'high risk' individuals be vaccinated. In my previous post we established this is counter to the goal of 'evidence based public health'. By vaccinating a small proportion of the population, we do very little to move the needle. The enemy is transmission at a population scale.

If you want to know the effect of this policy, take a look at how #healthinsurance companies decide what and what not to cover (8) This recommendation will lead to #insurancecompanies dropping vaccinations (8). Fun side fact, many people assert vaccines are a money laundering scam and big pharma wants you to get vaccinatied to rake in the cash. However, vaccines actually end up hurting the pharmaceutical industry's business model (9, 10, 11)
