Since I have given up on Freeplane (Java takes all of my system memory then locks up the machine) I have discovered View Your Mind(VYM)

This seems to do most of what Freeplane could do. It is a learning curve since things like picking a color for a link is not a straight forward process.
However its memory use is light and the mindmaps look great. It makes me want to do some programming using #qt.
