Rediscovered an album I haven't listened to in forever. Helen Callus playing #Bach's cello suites for viola. She really did a beautiful job. I went through a major #JSBach phase a few years ago. This album ranks up there. Well played and very well recorded. I do not know what kind of reception this album received in 2011, but I hope Ms. Callus got the credit she was due.

La Fiorentina vince anche al ritorno in Polonia contro il Rakow per 1-2 e vista anche la vittoria in rimonta nel finale dell’andata avanza ai quarti di finale di Conference League. Il Rakow – come nella gara di 7 giorni fa – era andato in vantaggio con Struski, ma la Fiorentina ha reagito di nuovo e ha trovato il pareggio con Piccoli pochi minuti dopo. Nei minuti finali un brivido per la formazione viola: l’arbitro assegna un rigore per fallo di Christensen su Brunes. Poi la revisione al var: simulazione e giallo. Al 97esimo, con il portiere del Rakow in area di rigore alla ricerca disperata del 2-1, la Fiorentina ha anche segnato l’1-2 con un gol di Pongracic da centrocampo. Adesso affronterà il Crystal Palace ai quarti di finale.
“Nel primo tempo abbiamo fatto fatica a capire che calcio dovessimo fare. Volevamo provare a giocare, ma il campo non lo permetteva. Eravamo in ritardo sulle seconde palle. Nella ripresa siamo andati in svantaggio ma è andata molto meglio. Ora questa squadra sa reagire. Chi è entrato ci ha dato una spinta, siamo diventati un gruppo. A volte, la qualificazione si deve prendere anche in modo sporco”, ha dichiarato l’allenatore della Fiorentina, Paolo Vanoli, ai microfoni di Sky Sport nel post gara. “Ora abbiamo più serenità. Dobbiamo rimanere con i piedi per terra. Piccoli mi ha detto che il gol dell’1-1 era il suo. Pongracic è cresciuto molto da quando sono qua. Il suo gol mi ha sorpreso – aggiunge il tecnico ex Torino -. Kean è un giocatore importante e quando c’è l’arrabbiatura per la sostituzione vuol dire che c’è voglia di giocare. Abbiamo ancora nove finali, è un giocatore importante per noi. Dodò e Parisi si trovano bene sulla stessa fascia. Parisi da esterno alto ci ha fatto cambiare marcia. Sono veramente contento di tutti i ragazzi”.

Fiorentina wins also in the return leg in Poland against Rakow 1-2 and, considering also the comeback victory in the final of the group stage, advances to the quarter-finals of the Conference League. Rakow – as in the match seven days ago – took the lead with Struski, but Fiorentina reacted again and equalized with Piccoli just a few minutes later. In the final minutes, there was a fright for the Viola team: the referee awarded a penalty for Christensen’s foul on Brunes. Then VAR review: simulation and a yellow card. In the 97th minute, with the Rakow goalkeeper in the penalty area desperately searching for a 2-1, Fiorentina also scored 1-2 with a goal from Pongracic from midfield. Now they will face Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals.

“In the first half we struggled to understand what kind of football we had to play. We wanted to try to play, but the field didn’t allow it. We were falling behind on second balls. In the second half we went behind, but it went much better. Now this team knows how to react. Those who came in gave us a boost, we became a group. Sometimes qualification has to be taken in a dirty way,” said Fiorentina coach Paolo Vanoli to Sky Sport microphones after the match. “Now we have more serenity. We have to stay on our feet. Piccoli told me that his goal was 1-1. Pongracic has grown a lot since I’ve been here. His goal surprised me – adds the former Torino coach -. Kean is an important player and when there’s anger about the substitution, it means there’s a desire to play. We still have nine finals, it’s an important player for us. Dodò and Parisi get along well on the same flank. Parisi as a high wing-back made us change gears. I’m really happy with all the boys.”

Il Fatto Quotidiano: “Non può entrare”: uno steward a Cremona nega un cartellone a Tommy, piccolo tifoso della Fiorentina. Poi le scuse

Era una trasferta come tutte le altre quella di Tommy, piccolo tifoso della Fiorentina che lunedì sera era allo “Zini” di Cremona per la sfida della formazione viola contro la Cremonese, poi vinta 1-4 dagli uomini di Vanoli. Una trasferta però resa “amara” da uno steward dello stadio che – “per eccesso di zelo”, dirà poi il club lombardo – ha impedito al giovanissimo Tommaso di portare con sé dentro lo stadio un cartellone con la scritta: “Adesso nei sogni ci credo più forte, Tommy“. Un cartello che il giovanissimo sostenitore viola aveva preparato con le sue mani, come testimoniato dalla mamma sul proprio profilo Facebook. “Caro steward, stasera Tommy non ha pianto quando gli hai ritirato il cartellone. Tommy ha pianto dopo. Quando ha visto il suo Dodo segnare. Perché il calcio, visto dagli occhi dei bambini, è ancora magia”, si legge nel post social della madre.
Un cartellone innocuo. Un errore da parte dello steward, che intransigente ha deciso di toglierlo dalle mani del ragazzo. A distanza di qualche ora sono arrivate le scuse della Cremonese con una nota ufficiale: “In relazione all’episodio che ha coinvolto il piccolo tifoso viola Tommaso al quale non è stato consentito di introdurre un cartello in tribuna in occasione della partita con la Fiorentina, U.S. Cremonese, appurati i fatti, censura l’errore commesso per eccesso di zelo dal personale in servizio allo Zini”, scrive nel comunicato la Cremonese, dopo quanto accaduto in occasione del posticipo di Serie A di ieri sera. La società grigiorossa “desidera scusarsi con Tommy e la sua famiglia per l’accaduto. Tommy sarà sempre il benvenuto nel nostro stadio“.

It was a trip like all the others for Tommy, a young Fiorentina fan who was at the “Zini” in Cremona on Monday evening for the match against Cremonese, which was then won 1-4 by Vanoli’s men. However, the trip was made “bitter” by a stadium steward who – “out of excessive zeal,” the Lombard club would later say – prevented the young Tommy from bringing a banner into the stadium that read: “I believe in dreams more strongly now, Tommy.” A banner that the young Viola supporter had prepared with his own hands, as testified by his mother on her Facebook profile. “Dear steward, Tommy didn’t cry when you took away the banner tonight. Tommy cried after. When he saw his Dodo score. Because football, seen through the eyes of children, is still magic,” reads the mother’s social media post.

An innocent banner. An error on the part of the steward, who, intransigently, decided to take it away from the boy’s hands. Hours later, Cremonese apologized with an official statement: “In relation to the incident involving young Viola fan Tommy, who was not allowed to introduce a banner into the stands during the match against Fiorentina, U.S. Cremonese, having investigated the facts, censures the error made out of excessive zeal by the personnel on duty at the Zini,” writes Cremonese in its statement, following what happened during the Serie A post-match last night. The gray-and-white team “wants to apologize to Tommy and his family for the incident. Tommy is always welcome in our stadium.”
