As the BIPoC residents of what PDXers know as the ¨Red House on Mississippi¨[1] face a line of weapon-wielding monsters tryin' evict them from some space, we are sharing their story to explain why we posted what we posted on the literal windows of the literal Ecostead:

Whiny person: ¨Aww, but my <aunt, mummy, grandma> flips houses / brokers property / has renters and she not a bad person!¨
Ecosteader A: ¨She IS complicit in native genocide (that is AKA murder), racism, and class war. All modern real estate transactions are built on the colonial deed system which has been incorrect from its inception; the historical records prove it was created by foreigners to invade lands and enforce white privilege. Actions taken to perpetuate that system FOR WHATEVER REASON cannot be justified as okay, legal, or ethical in any situation, in any world or in any Universe.¨
How to fix?
(1) GIVE THE LAND BACK; acknowledge colonial deeds as INVALID and therefore UNENFORCEABLE from any legal standpoint.
(2) Declare to the cartel members and its police enforces that the COLONIAL DEED SYSTEM IS WRONG, and to forefeit all interest in the system which is, at its core, an unethical, immoral, murderous system that has been ILLEGALLY destroying the health of diverse people and plants for centuries.
Actual BIPoC: ¨We don’t need another empty, high-rise, high-rent luxury condominium. The Kinneys are one of the last Black families remaining on Mississippi and their fight for their home is also a real-time fight against gentrification. In order to stand a chance against the big banks and developers who’ve systematically displaced Black families across North and Northeast Portland, we need leverage.[2]¨

It is the beginning of the month! Are you a PoC too far behind on your rent to the slavemaster, and getting evicted illegally?
Maybe watch this[1] #Free full-length documentary on how the settlers who colonized the North American continent segregated and impoverished through something called a ¨racial covenant¨ written right onto the deeds. Then start cussing out your landlords because their ancestors manufactured urban poverty.
Doc has a great intro to the parent idea of racial covenants, which are called ¨restrictive covenants¨ and involve ¨redlining¨ as ways the early whites settled towns, dividing the PoCs to live in the ¨undesirable¨ neighborhoods and all the white settlers to the favorable ones.
Images on this post EXPLICITLY state the wishes of the white settlers to push the colored folks into the littlest boxes in the sickest parts of the towns.
Ecosteader corporate papers explicitly incorporate anti-racist ideals into our urban planning and #CommunityWealth ideals; to correctly acknowledge the correct things, we cannot build our land acknowledgements on incorrect and short-sighted colonial-worded deeds perpetuated by racism that has been PROVEN BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT.
REAL ESTATE BROKERAGES.
Brokers are the top realty agents whose models rent out a bunch of desks and ¨rights¨ to use signs and legal papers (colonial deed system) and the database of properties for sale to aspiring Brokers (Realtors).
