"Today, nationalism obscures the vision. Borders are increasingly reinforced, preventing cultural exchange and abolishing the perception of everything that does not fall within the region. Isolation worsens and it is more difficult to realize the critical situation that we are facing globally, be it due to the depletion of resources, the migration crisis, or climate change.

"We drilled loads of details on this one, from colouring all the birds, to the snapped rope at the bottom of her leg, to the little bird sat on the ledge to the left. A super tricky piece to do with stencils, and the Scottish weather, but a result we are happy with." @snikarts April 23, 2018

"They create large scale stencil pieces, often depicting females caught in a moment of extreme movement. The piece in Aberdeen is called 'Hold Fast Hope' and features a girl being dragged into the air by small birds using a piece of rope. To hold fast is to keep strong or to hold on during stormy times. A sailing term, its a nice reference to the harbour location of their mural. "Vhil's mural was inspired by the story of Aberdonians who fought in the Spanish fascist regime in the 1930's. Vhil was fascinated by this story and delved deep in the history of these 19 men, 5 of which sadly died. The mural depicts two soldiers, American brigadier Peter Fyre on the right and John Londragan of Aberdeen. The story of these brave men and their bond with the Spanish is remarkable. This mural is helping to bring this story to life on the streets of Aberdeen to a new generation. 'What was the inspiration behind the Life of the Superhero series?
I have always been inspired by the human body which led me to the world of greek classic sculpture. From there the ”modern” greek hero – the superhero originated. In my case I wanted to portray the human aspects – not being perfect and the superhero became the natural symbol to dramatize these flaws – since he is suposed to be more or less ”perfect”.

He is based on me and my father. He then became more personal to me and through him I can portray my own shortcomings.'
