Finally, Croton Point. It's a peninsula extending into the Hudson, around the widest part of the river (about 3 miles wide). So wide that Henry Hudson mistook it as a shortcut to the ocean. It was getting dark, and I took Metro-North back to NYC. #upstatenewyork #wetlands #dusk #bluehour #landscapephotography #trains #railfan #darktable #mta #hudson #hudsonriver
The lighting was better when I was on the top of the dam, on that bridge. Of course it's impossible to get the best lighting in all parts of the trip, but it's still a nice view. After this, I headed to Croton Point. #waterfall #landscapephotography #bridge #fallfoliage #fall #upstatenewyork #darktable
Back on the trail, descending from the Croton dam to the park below the dam. It was my first time to this part of the trail. #fallfoliage #fall #forest #gravelbike #gravel #outdoors #nature #upstatenewyork #photography #darktable
I made it to the New Croton Dam again. This is the view from the dam top. There's a gravel road on the south of the reservoir going east from the dam. I've ridden there before, but this time since fall foliage was past its prime further inland, I went west to Croton Point instead. #reservoir #fallfoliage #fall #waterfall #bridge #dam #river #landscapephotography #upstatenewyork #darktable
I got off at Beacon and got on the next southbound train, staying in Beacon for like half an hour. #upstatenewyork #fallfoliage #fall #landscapephotography #darktable
The sun came out when I got further north, in the late morning. This is from Bear Mountain Bridge to Cold Spring. #upstatenewyork #hudson #hudsonriver #landscapephotography #fallfoliage #fall #darktable
At Metro-North Manitou station, which has the tiniest platform ever, shorter than one car. #upstatenewyork #wetlands #fallfoliage #fall #landscapephotography #darktable

Downtown #Schenectady NY, probably autumn 1977. A dreary day in what was then a dreary place, even though I loved it. The Proctor's Theatre on the left has survived and expanded, the old local department store hung on into the early '90s, everything else has changed. The buildings are mostly still there, and renovated. Looking at this I mostly remember how bad the air quality was.
