#RetroTINK4K always in stock for a while now. I recall it getting sold out almost immediately whenever stock became available, when initially released. All the people who’d spend that much on an (UHD) upscaler already bought it apparently and its market got saturated. Pricing remains the same though.
The RetroTINK-4K is the world’s most advanced video processor and scaler for retro game consoles. Building on the work by its predecessors, it delivers exceptional performance with support for output resolutions up to 4K60, pixel-perfect scaling, advanced image processing, CRT simulation and input formats for the ultimate experience.
Come to think of it, I don't think the Hispeedido board plugs into any sort of digital signal, but perhaps the raw RGB and sync signals, which are not exposed through the normal video connector. You would probably get the same result with the RGB hack (which exposes the RGB and sync signals as opposed to the all-in-one composite signal, which is terribly prone to color bleed) and a regular #upscaler.
But this is damned convenient. And it's sort of a sleeper mod. I like that.
Holy shit, I managed to install the #Hispeedido #HDMI thingmabob for the #Nintendo64 and IT'S BLOODY WORKING! :-) It was a bit of a nightmare soldering it to what I believe is the GPU and I wasn't sure what to expect. Where the graphics of the NES and SNES would probably be crystal sharp since it's mostly 2D, the Nintendo 64 was the early days of 3D on the console, and textures and effects are honestly not that sharp.
While the HDMI board probably offers a little more sharpness, it offers much richer colors and no color bleeding. It also offers convenience - no need for a TV that has a #SCART port or an #upscaler device. I do have several of the latter ones though, and worth noting is that the #OSSC device probably won't help you, since it doesn't like the N64's composite video signal.
Sound is included in the #HDMI signal, and so far it's pretty awesome! :-) What should I play first?
Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a tough spot, and after paying my rent this week I am going to be flat broke and will struggle to sustain myself for a while, and could really use the help.
Currently, I am spending a lot of time (between my uni exams) volunteering to help improve GNOME in many ways, such as:
- Better hardware enablement, such as (https://codeberg.org/kramo/cartridges/pulls/406) and (https://codeberg.org/kramo/cartridges/pulls/418) to enable controller input in Cartridges, and (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calendar/-/merge_requests/682) to support back/forth hardware buttons, like those seen on some gaming/productivity mice, in GNOME Calendar.
- Improve accessibility in GNOME, with (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/4013) to improve accessibility of the selection mode in GNOME's screenshot overlay, and (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calendar/-/merge_requests/681) to fix missing tooltips and labels in GNOME Calendar.
- Help with maintenance and add new features to many commonly used GTK and GNOME apps, such as adding a new comparison mode to Upscaler with (https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Upscaler/-/merge_requests/101) (with help from Skelly), porting GNOME Music to Blueprint with (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-music/-/merge_requests/1140) and (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-music/-/merge_requests/1141), and helping to improve the ecosystem by occasionally streaming my changes on my Youtube account.
These changes take many hours of my free time to research, develop and test, with 0 compensation. If #Linux accessibility, hardware-enablement or having amazing, beautiful Linux and #LinuxMobile apps is important to you, I would strongly urge you to donate or boost this post!
My KoFi is https://ko-fi.com/zoeyahmed. My current goal is to raise £300, which should cover me and allow me to continue making GNOME and the FOSS ecosystem better and more accessible then ever!
Current Total: £166.17/£300
