Another round of Unwound to kick start my Thursday morning.

Their second album, and another wonderfully noisy chapter from the early days.

A girl asked me if I’d go out with her sometime around 1994 (she ended up being a dear life long friend).
We were both around 15 at the time.

When she asked me, I asked her “Do you like Unwound?”

She responded with “I don’t know what that is…”

“I’m afraid it wouldn’t work out.”

She found this very funny, and we actually dated for a few years before turning into lifelong friends, despite her ignorance and indifference to one of my favorite bands of the #90s .

When you have a body like she did, you date her anyway, and let her listen to whatever she wants.

One of the most underrated and under-appreciated bands of the #90s

With all of the reissues and box sets that Numero have put out and reissued, they give to great lengths with loving care to help introduce them to a new audience, and jog the memories of those who may have forgotten about them completely.

Although they twisted and evolved from record to record, and they were ALL great, I prefer the early, scrappy and noisy Unwound records, and Fake Train, the one that started it all, is still at the top of the mountain for me.
It is so artfully ugly, and of the greatest #noise #posthardcore albums ever.

Sara Lund was always their secret weapon. Her drumming is phenomenal. Without her, I’m not sure they get anywhere, wherever it was they got to.

Tom Jones should feel honored.
