I did not ask to be a #grandparent. I did not ask to be a #parent, three decades previous. The latter was wheedled & sighed & cajoled & persuaded out of me, so eventually i relented & went along, to get along [& didn't that all end up so splendidly, 13 years later...🙄🤦‍♀️]. The former was ofc not in any way within my control, & arrived as a fait accompli, then again, & again. The advent of the latter does not magically sweep away all my brokenness, & I simply can't find a way thru. It blew up again yesterday, hence a miserable day & night. What a mess. 👎😭

#PetPeeve: I hate that "Music" is one of the standard home folders on desktop computers. I love music, but I want it to be "Audio" -- not all audio is music (plus "audio" pairs better with "video"). When was this default established, in #MacOS X 10.0, #WinNT, earlier? (I think NextStep or BeOS might have had a "Sounds" folder.) Now, seemingly every #desktop uses this default: #Windows, #Mac, #FreeDesktop environments (#GNOME, #KDE), are there any exceptions? Like the #DesktopMetaphor itself, we're stuck with it, even though it chafes.

This morning, I applied for my winter job, did half an hour of chores, updated my blog, spent half an hour studying Spanish, read the news, and wrote about 500 words.

Why do I feel like I got nothing done before lunch so shouldn't be taking time to eat?

Years ago, I was an independent dance instructor who worked part-time for several dance studios. One studio owner didn’t like the idea of me teaching at any place but theirs. I told her that if she wanted to pay me for all the other gigs I’d be missing, that would be ok. Otherwise, I’d teach wherever I could because I gotta eat and pay bills, same as her. #UnreasonableExpectations #Dance #Dancer #DanceTeacher

Our nephews are involved in high school robotics competitions. While I am fascinated by what their robots can do, I often wonder "but what can those machines do for us?"

I have a mindset of problem solving. Much of what I perceive is filtered through that mindset.

I have no interest in machines that only tip over other robots and throw balls through a hoop.

I have a sidewalk that I want cleared of the inch of ice on it. Build me a robot for that.

I worked at removing some of the ice and snow from the public sidewalk this afternoon. My back hurts.

I didn't clear all of the snow or ice from edge to edge. I don't have the strength nor patience for that.

Nor do I have the machinery. A lot of ice and snow on the public sidewalk was deposited there by city and county snowplows clearing the street. My snowblower cannot clear heavy, icy snow crud.
