I'm doing my Wednesday afternoon work from coffee shop shift. This older guy is always here on his iPad a seat over from me, we know we're regulars but we have not acknowledged each other. Today he was packing up and I said, "You're leaving me so early today" and he starts explaining to me what was going on and why he was leaving before our, hitherto unspoken, shift was up. We wished each a good holiday week and he left. Lovely!
