Paused to rest near the old boathouse, to pace myself and enjoy my book, but that cold wind was *not* conducive to outdoor reading for more than a few chapters.

While I was reading below the trees by the canal, a young Egyptian lady & her toddler joined me on the bench.

Wee lad was a smiler, & as I talked to him I got bigger smiles. Helped him launch small stick into the water & introduce him to the moorhen passing by, while enjoying a pleasant chat with his mum
