If you're still around at #KubeCon this afternoon, why not drop by our Special Purpose Operating Systems panel at 4pm?

We're a #CNCF working group focusing on one-trick ponys and we'll have folks from #Kairos, #Unikraft, Google #GCOS, and #Flatcar chatting it out: https://sched.co/1YeSR

This will be an audience-centric / Q&A style session, so if you have questions, or if you want to discuss your very own special purpose OS, there will be room for you to speak up.

In a surprise twist, our #fosdem2024 BoF session "Special Purpose Operating Systems: The Next Step in OS Evolution or One-Trick Ponies?" was greenlit this morning!

If you want to listen to and engage with Razvan Deaconescu (#Unikraft unikernel), Mauro Morales (#KairOS), Richard Brown (#SUSE #MicroOS), and yours truly (#Flatcar) on special purpose #linux distributions then head over to AW 1.121 at 3pm to our BoF panel session: https://fosdem.org/2024/schedule/event/fosdem-2024-3561-special-purpose-operating-systems-the-next-step-in-os-evolution-or-one-trick-ponies-/

My #wasmsummit talk went surprisingly-well! Huge thanks to @[email protected] @[email protected] and the #unikraft team at @[email protected].

Also sorry for *almost* calling @[email protected] "he who shall not be named"

#unikraft xenproject.org/developers/team… is interesting, as it is a true unikernel (not a wrapper around an application binary but compiled together with the application code), but instead offers the other way around: Linux userspace as one environment for the kernel to run in.

The schedule of this year's #FOSDEM Microkernel and Component-based devroom has been selected:

- What's new in the world of #seL4
- Microkernel virtualization under one roof (#genode)
- A roadmap for the #Hurd?
- A microkernel written in Rust: Porting the UNIX-like #Redox OS to Armv8
- Hands-on composition of basic #L4Re components
- #Unikraft: Unikernels Made Easy
