I had a wonderful day last week at UniSQ Toowoomba. The 3rd year students were on their last day of their residential experimental physics lab work. It was great to see them putting into practice what they had learned in the photonics course to-date. They had come from far and wide for this. This last day was their individual project, including measuring laser beams, spectroscopy, and interferometry. UniSQ has a vibrant physics undergraduate cohort, with astronomy and astophysics being their strength. A lot of exoplanet research is being done there.
Quantum research is set to take off with two dilution refrigerators being installed last week, with strong industry linkages in place.
