(2/4)
I took these in a shallow woodland stream, a day or two after heavy rain so the water was still running fast but had had time to clear a little.
I choose spots where the water runs over rocks into small pools, creating plenty of bubbles both on and below the surface.
If the water is running too deep and fast you will struggle to isolate the bubbles even with flash, leading to blurry images.

It's very experimental with a low success rate - I find that holding the camera level with the bubbles, and even in them, gives good results.
So, too, does submerging the camera in calmer water and pointing it toward the flow.
The money shot is the one with a large, pin-sharp, well-lit single bubble right in the middle of the scene, like something from a 70s prog-rock album cover.

Underwater abstracts - a thread (1/4)
Creating these underwater abstracts is great fun so I thought a brief guide covering techniques and tips might be of interest.
I use an OM System Tough TG-7 which has underwater macro settings and always shoot in RAW with auto ISO and fill-in flash.
Because of the small sensor some noise reduction is usually required in post processing.
But first, where to shoot?
