Putin, like Trump, could adopt the figleaf of seizure predicated on 'national security interests,' allowing Russian SSBNs safer passage into the Atlantic (compromising NATO's stranglehold on the GIUK gap).

The use of military force by the USA under Donald Trump against a fellow #NATO member, Denmark, to annex Greenland would not only signal possibly the final nail in the coffin for the old rules-based international order but would probably encourage Putin to move against a weakened Denmark and the western alliance, allowing Russia to seize the Danes' other Atlantic possession - the Faroe Islands.

Don The Con is now threatening to annex Greenland by military force, figuring that if Denmark caves in he wins but if the Danes invoke Article 5 setting the rest of #NATO agin the USA, it will break the alliance irrepairably - and his master Putin wins.
