The Cold Springs Fire started yesterday around 2:00 PM, fueled by 20–30 mph winds and gusts up to 35 mph, with temperatures reaching 93°F. Initial reports of multiple structures being threatened prompted an immediate third alarm and a rapid, coordinated response.

Utilizing the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System (OFMAS), under immediate response, OSFM provided aerial assets along with federal partners. Despite challenging conditions, Umatilla County Fire District #1 with mutual aid and federal resources successfully halted the fire’s forward progress late last night.

The Conflagration was invoked on July 2nd and the OSFM Green Team, led by IC Lance Lighty, assumed command this morning. Conflagration resources are working alongside local, state, and federal partners to fully contain and put the fire to rest. Local landowners played a key role, using heavy equipment and tractors to establish control lines and assist with containment efforts.

Power was rerouted by utility companies to minimize disruptions. Pacific Power crews remain on scene this morning to address multiple damaged poles. Operations continued overnight with crews reinforcing containment and evaluating structures in and around the fire perimeter.
