@itsfoss I use Wayland on my #Fedora and #UltramarineLinux (Fedora) machines, and X11 on my #LinuxMint and #TuxedoOS machines.
I don’t have a problem with either, but I’m not a gamer and none of my machines are using NVIDIA graphics.
@jamesbannan @nygl I’ve had success running #UltramarineLinux (Fedora) and #LinuxMint on my old 2014 Air and 2015 Pro. The only real challenges have been Wi-Fi and slow wake from sleep in Fedora.
Fedora no longer supports the old broadcom-wl driver for the Air, so you’ll need a dongle for Wi-Fi, but @linuxmint still supports it after a software update.
Yes, Mint is still on x11 and not everyone likes Cinnamon or Xfce, but it runs without issue.
Terra Advisory
Latest release of dnf5 (5.2.14.0) has introduced a new regression that might cause Terra to not load correctly.
If you are having this exact issue, downgrade dnf5 using:
sudo dnf5 downgrade dnf5
No, it’s not a re-post. That’s not KDE Plasma, nor is it GNOME. Hardcase is back on Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop, and I daresay he’s better than ever!
No, x11 isn’t as secure as Wayland, but #LinuxMint is faster, simpler, and easier to use on my old 2014 MacBook Air than #Fedora-based #UltramarineLinux. No more nags about a “tainted kernel.”
P.S. - That’s not Plank. 😉
