This right here is how you finish an ultramarathon.
❝I don’t think I’m especially tough, mentally strong, or have a high pain threshold. It just happened. Part of my brain committed to the task, without a conscious decision to withstand the pain, and so I kept moving.

❝But: we keep going back for more. We love it all; the hard, the challenging, the ones we are still grateful that we can do. And maybe that’s what drives us.

There is still a backyard ultra running since the weekend in Horsens (city) Denmark 🇩🇰. After 56 hours, 3 runners remain 🤯

They started with some of the most successful ultra runners in the country. I can’t comprehend how they can continue that format for so long - they have my deepest admiration 🙇🏻♂️

This turned out to be really tough. Reasons of which, need further analysis.

I am in the Ardennes for a two day running weekend. Big planning, with the heat wave going on here... 🙄
Today was the first of two long runs with some EG.
From Stavelot to Coo and back in a beautiful loop. There were a couple of interesting climbs, especially around Coo with the climb between the two bassins and the climb from the falls to the parapente starting area.
Even if I got started early enough, the second half of the run was strongly influenced by the heat. So I slowed down and took extra breaks when needed. Every time I crossed a stream, I've put my hat in it.
55km with almost 2000m of EG in almost 8hrs. Not bad for a heat wave day.
