J'ai vu #sparta, film certes malaisant (mais pas plus qu'un film avec Kev Adams), mais qui surtout vous emmène là où vous ne l'attendez pas en mettant face à face le désir maladif d'un adulte envers les jeunes garçons, et une parentalité abusive ordinaire, endémique, légitime.

En somme, un portrait de la place des enfants dans notre société : toujours objets, jamais sujets.

Y aura-t-il un jour un #metoo des enfants ?

#ThisNightIllWatchYour online stream of #RIMINI (#UlrichSeidl, 2022) via the BFIPlayer. I think I need to watch this again to let it settle in. Sort of a German lounge singer variation on THE WRESTLER. Deliciously, darkly comic w/a lot in its subtext re: xenophobia, pop culture, etc. Beautifully photographed.

„Sparta“ von #UlrichSeidl erzählt von der Unentrinnbarkeit der eigenen Vergangenheit und von dem Schmerz, sich selbst zu finden. „Ich kann verstehen, wenn Leute nicht zu jeder Zeit in der Stimmung sind, sich einen Film von mir anzuschauen.“, sagt der Filmemacher selbst. „Ich will verunsichern, weil jede Verunsicherung Fragen aufwirft und, im besten Fall, auch zu neuen Erkenntnissen führt.“

This is more traditional. A diet camp. Crush on much older camp doctor. Heartaches. The doctor leads Melanie (Melanie Lenz) on for uncomfortably long time, but it doesn't go extreme like in his other films. Like the other two in his Paradise Trilogy, Seidl here achieves that intimacy with young actors, but more tender and subtle. The banality of pre-pubescent life is still somewhat immune to Seidl's depiction of desperate living of the adults. Does hope exist only in childhood or is Seidl being ironical just like naming the trilogy Paradise?
Teresa, Annamaria and Melanie, the protagonists of the trilogy, grapple with the society where they (themselves included) are viewed in a certain way. They look for paradise in all the wrong places. #paradisetrilogy #ulrichseidl #austriancinema #paradisehope
