🌊 @TatianaIlyina has been appointed director at the MPI for Marine Microbiology in #Bremen! Congratulations on this fantastic success!🎉

From 2010-2026 Tatiana led a research group at #MPIM, simultaneously taking on a professorship at the University of Hamburg #UHH & @hereon in 2023.

We're sad to see her leave, and at the same time we're excited to see the groundbreaking research she is going to conduct in her new role! Here's to an exciting new chapter! 👏

Ich hab gestern zum ersten Mal Blut gespendet und irgendwie war das sehr cool! Hat sich total gut angefühlt und ich würd's am liebsten nächste Woche wieder tun. 😁❤️

Hab dabei erfahren, dass man ab April an der #UHH künftig zweimal pro Woche die Chance dazu hat.

#ICON team earns international recognition in #HPC🏆👏
What an outstanding achievement! Using the ICON Earth system model, a team led by #MPIM + #DKRZ successfully simulated the full Earth system at an unprecedented grid spacing of 1.25 km. For this, they received the Gordon Bell Prize for #ClimateModeling, awarded at #SC25. The team also included experts from #JSC, #ETH Zurich, CSCS, #UHH, & #NVIDIA. We're thrilled, proud, & grateful for this wonderful recognition! 🎉

☁️Stratocumulus clouds reflect incoming solar radiation & cool the Earth’s surface. Microphysical processes in these clouds are relevant for making accurate projections of our future climate. 💦Using high-resolution simulations, our #IMPRS_ESM member Raphael Pistor & Juan Pedro Mellado from #UHH investigated how water droplet size affects cloud lifetimes and found that droplet sedimentation is just as important as turbulence. 📖 https://doi.org/10.1029/2025MS004966
