OBS Studio Update Adds New Features, Drops 22.04 Support

For high-quality screen recording and streaming few apps comes close to the power and versatility as the cross-platform and open-source OBS Studio – and a new version is out. OBS Studio 31.0 intros a slate of new features and capabilities. Among them, the long-awaited addition of preview scrollbars, making it easier to move around previews without needing to hold the spacebar and click, and a zoom/scale indicator so users can tell when the viewpoint is zoomed/moved. Elsewhere, OBS Studio 31.0 adds a new background blur filter – but it only works on systems equipped with a compatible NVIDIA RTX GPU

Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS Released with Linux Kernel 6.8

The fifth and final point release to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is now available to download. This update was due to be released a couple of weeks ago but was delayed by a delay in getting Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS out the door – something had to give, so the release date of this update slipped. But it’s here now, ready to download. Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS brings a freshly-spun installer image (ISO) that includes all of the software, security, and stability updates released since the last ISO was made. This cuts down on the number of updates that have to downloaded after

Is there any working CVS GUI frontend for #linuxmint or #Ubuntu22_04Lts ?
tkcvs (wish) uses 100% cpu and tries to read something from a socket (error: EAGAIN). cervisia (from #kde_gear) does start but is unusable (error: the cvsservice is not reachable via d-bus) althoug cvsservice was installed as dependency. cvsservice is used to access remote CVS repositories.
It seems that both applications require a remote CVS repository but I just have a local one. Is there a work-around for this ?

Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS is Available to Download

A new point release of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is available to download. Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS is the fourth point release and results in a brand-new installation image (ISO) that integrates all of the security patches, bug fixes, and software updates released since last August’s Ubuntu 22.04.3 image. Additionally, Ubuntu 22.04.4 ships atop a new hardware enablement stack (HWE) composed of Linux kernel 6.5 (bringing support for newer hardware, file system tweaks, and security updates) and Mesa 23.2.1 (offering improved graphics support). Package updates include Thunderbird 115.6, and Mozilla Firefox 122 (which will auto-update to the most recent release at the

Ubuntu 22.04 Users Can Now Upgrade to Linux Kernel 6.5

You can now upgrade to Linux kernel 6.5 in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS — no PPAs, additional repos, or edge packages required. Ubuntu routinely back-ports newer Linux kernels from “interim” releases to its latest long-term support release. The Linux 6.5 kernel from Ubuntu 23.10, released back in October, is the latest version to get the treatment. Now, this major kernel update affects the standard hardware-enablement (HWE) kernel only. It will not replace the standard GA kernel Ubuntu 22.04 LTS originally came with. If you’ve chosen to stick with Linux 5.15 because it works best then don’t fret: it ain’t going away.

New Emoji Land in Ubuntu

A brown mushroom, a slice of lime, and a fiery phoenix — no, that’s not the start of a rubbish joke but a handful of the newest emoji added to the Unicode standard. And if you’re using Ubuntu, you’ll be able see and use them well before iPhone users, too. Rolling out to users on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and 23.10 is an update to the Noto Color Emoji font that includes support for the 118 new emoji in Unicode 15.1. As well as the aforementioned brown mushroom, lime, and firebird, it includes new nodding and head-shaking smileys, a broken link,

Much prefer configuring and running ROS 2 native on #Ubuntu22_04Lts on Pi4 than configuring Docker on Pi5.
