Had issues with #UTM / #AVF and wanted to try #VMWareFusion as an alt. What should've been few clicks became 30m of fighting through the corporate jungle: Mandatory registration. Trying diff. emails. Defeating anti-paste password fields, captchas, license checkboxes. Cross-checking other sites to find the correct download. In the end, I lost the little trust I had in Broadcom and deleted it w/out installing. #virtualisation

О моём первом опыте разработки Android-приложения с помощью чата GPT, взлётах и падениях морального состояния, а также инсайтах и озарениях, которые случились по пути. Devin Prater :blind:So last night, I decided to try UTM on the iPhone. UTM worked. JIT worked. I got Arch Linux, booted it up, and... Even on the console, the only thing that covered the screen was a text field. Screen recognition showed the startup of the machine, but that's a lot of reading the same thing over, and over, and over again. But I stuck with it. For like a whole hour I updated pacakged, and installed espeak-ng.
And it worked. It spoke. So then I installed Emacs. That worked. TCL. That worked. But TCLX did not. Because I don't know I guess it's too old for Arch. Then it was like 4:30 in the morning and I gave up. Besides, espeak-ng test took like half a second to speak. Ugh. Ah well. I guess I'll just have to wait for Android's Braille support to improve. Meh. So much meh.

Dismal Wizard got Fedora 43 Cosmic up as a UTM guest. UTM uses the Apple virtualization kit to create virtual machines. DW has the Fedora Apple Silicon build up. This build, unlike Fedora Asahi Linux remix, ignores the Metal GPU libraries. OpenGL and OpenCl are not supported. But it runs nicely. Audio and video work. #UTM #virtualization #AppleVirtualization #AppleSilicon
