Postal workers are keeping the US economy moving during this time of crisis - getting medicine delivered, making e-commerce possible and keeping families connected. It is the emergency distribution system when our country is in crisis. But at this unprecedented time, that work is under threat. The Coronavirus shutdown is plummeting postal revenues while increasing costs. It is reported that the Postal Service could run out of money as early as June. Congress and President Trump have approved huge trillion-dollar stimulus spending bills to support private industries, but the White House and Senate Leadership are refusing to grant the money we need to keep the Postal Service working. A repeal of the prefunding mandate established by the 2006 PAEA. Forgiveness of $11 billion in outstanding debt. An investment so the USPS can purchase all necessary safety supplies. A national right to vote by mail, with the funding needed to allow the postal service to keep our democracy functioning while the country is locked down. --------------- 1The Postal Service's Surprising Role in Surviving Doomsday https://www.wired.com/story/us-postal-plan-coronavirus-vaccine-doomsday/ 2 The Postal Service was in trouble before covid-19.
