#Prescription #medicine prices in the USA make no f***ing sense.

This is the same drug. Same dose.

$ 25 - 1 month supply, local pharmacy
$180 - 2 month supply, mail-order pharmacy
$180 - 3 month supply, mail-order pharmacy

And this evening, I picked up a 3 month supply at the local pharmacy: cost $25 total.

WTF?????? This system is insane. 🤯

Oh yeah, I'm sticking with the local pharmacy, even though it is an large, evil, well known chain.

Caring for ageing parents is becoming a financial nightmare in the US. Here’s what we can do

Most families have little saved for retirement – and face unfair shame for it. It’s time to cut the bootstrap rhetoric

When I was at the hospital last night, I thought it would be nice to have someone to chat with. Most of the people in the ER were alone.

"Would it be a hospital employee?"

Yes.

"Who would pay for this?"

The hospital.

"That's never going to happen."

The reason it is not currently happening is that companies which are supposed to improve the well-being of the people they serve are putting profits above well-being. Yes, they do improve well-being, but this is incidental to the profit imperative.

If you believe that the way these corporations behave is fine, then you are part of the problem.

I can only talk about US healthcare. I've moved to the US so long ago that I don't think I can talk about the current situation in Canada. I'll just say that the fears about "socialized healthcare" are utterly unfounded.
