12/x - But most of this comes back to Apple's use of "Protective Orders," & the local court's systemic refusal to comply with the US & Cal Constitution, Federal Rules, & Supreme Court requirements for issuing these POs. That's a single pt of failure!

Thats why I filed a rulemaking petition to the #USCourts last month asking the Rules Committee to consider formally revising the Rules of Civil Procedure #FRCP to prohibit what Apple & the court are doing with these POs

Courts Have Ruled 4,400+ Times That ICE Jailed People Illegally; Despite Rebukes, ICE Keeps Doing It

Following violent and indiscriminate sweeps of immigrant communities across the United States, the number of people in ICE detention has increased 75% since President Trump returned to the Oval Office. Yet, as the number of lawsuits against the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign skyrockets, the federal government has continued to jail people indefinitely. Although judges across the U.S. have handed down more than 4,400 rulings of illegal detentions of immigrants since October, very few of these rulings have been acted upon. Reuters reporter Brad Heath says the unprecedented “pile-up” of tens of thousands of cases is straining the capacity of the rapidly shrinking staff at the Department of Justice and further delaying the release of immigrants from ICE jails.

Lil Durk faces trial blow: Judge admits rap lyrics and fan posts as evidence

On Friday, February 13, 2026, Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ruled that Lil Durk’s rap lyrics and fan comments are admissible in court. Prosecutors will use the material to support murder-for-hire charges. The evidence allegedly links the rapper to a retaliatory plot involving the death of Lul Pab.

Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald delivered a significant ruling on Friday, February 13, 2026. This decision allows prosecutors to use rap lyrics and social media activity against Lil Durk. The rapper faces a high-stakes murder-for-hire trial starting this spring.

Fans and legal experts are closely watching the case. The ruling follows intense arguments from Durk’s legal team. They fought to keep his creative work out of the courtroom entirely.

Court debates rap lyric evidence

The judge reviewed 13 specific lyric excerpts during the hearing. He approved four of these for use at trial. However, the court denied five other excerpts that the government requested.

Four additional lyrics remain in a legal grey area for now. The judge will decide their fate during a hearing on February 23. These lyrics require more context before the court accepts them.

”if the Government can adequately explain their probative value in the context of how they will be presented and admitted at trial” Judge Fitzgerald wrote.

The judge specifically blocked lyrics about following cars and shooting at passengers. He found these descriptions too similar to the actual allegations in the case. This decision follows other courtroom battles over artistic content, recalling when Drake appealed the UMG ruling over his Kendrick Lamar defamation fight during his own legal saga.

Social media and music videos

Prosecutors will also present screenshots from music videos. They claim one video served as a reward for the alleged crimes. The government alleges Durk offered incentives to co-defendants to kill Quando Rondo.

The plot resulted in the death of Lul Pab. He was the cousin of Quando Rondo. This legal move comes as courts handle various celebrity rulings, much like the update when Wunmi shared a fresh court ruling in the Mohbad DNA case late last year.

The court will also allow comments from Durk’s account on X. These posts show the public pressure he faced after King Von’s death. Fans repeatedly urged the rapper to seek revenge for his fallen friend.

Prosecutors also secured permission to use a 2023 podcast interview. Durk spoke with DJ Akademiks about the pressure to retaliate. These statements will help the government build a motive for the alleged crime. Lil Durk’s trial begins on April 13.

"ICE agents can’t make warrantless arrests in Oregon unless there’s a risk of escape, US judge rules" by @AssociatedPress - US federal judge in Portland issued a preliminary injunction which will remain in effect while a lawsuit on the matter proceeds. Similar federal court rulings are also in effect in Colorado and DC. https://apnews.com/article/immigration-warrantless-arrests-ice-oregon-lawsuit-f21f3856e3c60e283e7be4bac1f04272 #USpol #UScourts #ICE #CivilRights #civility #Oregon #PNW
Federal judge restricts warrantless immigration arrests in Oregon

A judge says U.S. immigration agents in Oregon must stop arresting people without warrants unless they are likely to escape. U.S. District Judge Mustafa Kasubhai issued the preliminary injunction Wednesday. The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by a nonprofit law firm representing a man who was detained by immigration officers without a warrant despite having a valid work permit. In a memo last week, the acting head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement emphasized that agents should not make arrests without an administrative arrest warrant issued by a supervisor unless they develop probable cause to believe the person is likely to escape from the scene.

Halligan’s response to the judge Tuesday — a remarkably defiant document that strains the boundaries of standard legal rhetoric and logic … characterized [District Judge David J.] Novak’s questions as “a thinly veiled threat” against her authority and claimed the previous unlawful appointment ruling only prevented her from working the dismissed cases against #Comey and James … did not explain why she and the DOJ have repeatedly identified her as a full U.S. attorney in court filings — dropping “acting” or “interim” from her title — even though she was never confirmed by the Senate or federal judges in the Eastern District of Virginia.

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals has 4 active justices appointed by Republicans and 7 appointed by Democrats. Yet the Republicans have dominated most of the emergency three-judge panels this year. It's numerically possible for this to happen but, as far as I can tell, improbable. Is it paranoid to wonder how random these assignments have been?

Russia Is Suspected to Be Behind Breach of Federal Court Filing System

Federal officials are scrambling to assess the damage and address flaws in a sprawling, heavily used computer system long known to have vulnerabilities.

The New York Times

900 Department of Justice alumni have warned the U.S. Senate against appointing ex-Trump lawyer Emil Bove to the appellate court. "We are all alarmed by DOJ leadership's recent deviations from constitutional principles and institutional guardrails," the former department employees wrote, adding that Bove had "disgraced" the department. The letter, dated July 16, was signed by officials from as far back as the Kennedy administration. Tomorrow, the Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on whether to advance Bove's nomination to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Circuit. He will serve a lifetime appointment if confirmed.
