Every mobile device I have used (except for 2) have had their USB-C/Thunderbolt port destroyed before anything else (2 exceptions: one device had its screen cracked, while the other exception somehow managed to survive 2 years) because of the need for a plug-in charger. I have destroyed close to 10 charging ports to date (some have been repaired without replacing the device) I have never destroyed the charging port on a laptop, despite the laptops always having a longer lifespan (the laptops always have a non-USB-C charger as well) The charger itself usually lasts longer than the charging port. It is a really good thing wireless charging exists now, or my current mobile devices would have been abandoned over 5 years ago.
