Oil Rush, ein kleines Techdemo-Tower Offensespiel für die #Unigine-Engine. Damals mit nativer #Linux-Version, ein riesen Ding! Inzwischen etwas in Vergessenheit geraten.
Dann 2022 zum 10-jährigen Jubiläum als Freeware freigegen ist es verschwunden. Homepage down. Downloads weg!
Aufgrund der kleinen Nachfrage von @Turrican haben wir den Kontakt zu Unigine aufgebaut und die Erlaubnis bekommen das Spiel in unser Archiv aufzunehmen - und da ist es!

Overall, it felt pretty good. Familiar in good ways and fairly easy to intuit from just the UI, which is always a good sign!
Haven't had time to dive much deeper into it. And tbh, only having a deferred path made me way less interested due to the nature of the things I tend to make. But! I still came away with an overall positive impression. Soo good job #unigine
Soooooo a funny thing happened today
Ran some benchmarks on some new machines at work running #linux, and one of my personal favourites is #Unigine Superposition. Benchmark mode ran beautifully, 90+ FPS at the highest preset.
But then we dropped into game mode.
Suddenly the game struggled to reach 5 FPS, even on the lowest preset. Weird.
Fiddled around with graphics drivers, made sure everything was in order, but nothing looked out of the ordinary.
What if it's the input handling? Had a silly idea and unplugged the mouse and keyboard, and suddenly everything ran smooth as butter. Plugged the keyboard back in, and the frame times jumped again. Tried a different keyboard, no problems there.
So apparently my colleague's mechanical keyboard has the power to kill game engines.
