Science disappears from primary timetables in summer term and everyone knows it happens and nobody quite says it out loud. SATs pressure is part of the reason. But a lot of it is that teachers do not feel confident enough in science to fight for the time when something else needs covering. That is a training and support problem, not a personal failing. The subject will not protect itself.
