A poor zombie ladybird in my garden. It’s frozen in position protecting a Dinocampus coccinellae wasp pupa. The cocoon silk is just about visible as white threads beneath. It’s still alive for now.

Just spotted my first St Mark’s Fly of the year (Cambridgeshire, UK) - otherwise known as the #Hawthorn Fly. Spot them dangling their long black legs in flight. So named because they emerge around St Mark’s Day (25th April)

Last year I thought I saw a newt larvae at the brownfield site near where I live but I wasn’t confident in my ID but tonight we finally saw some adults in the same location! They haven’t been recorded here before so of course I’ll submit my record.

more photo's from last Wednesday (I'm working backwards it seems) from the warm afternoon in Memorial Park.

Signs of spring springing until it's sprung in the air. Or something.

Daffs (in the week of St David's Day, tree blossom and a bee on the move)
