I think I'm starting to fall out of love with The Beautiful Game
The news of Southampton's playoff expulsion for recording their opponent's (Middlesbrough) training session before the playoff game & admitting multiple further breaches earlier in the season.
Chelsea admitting significant financial cheating during the Abramovich era (off books payments etc) which allowed them to buy and retain players that won them titles.. (Fine, suspended transfer ban. No significant sporting sanction).
Admittedly, they co-operated with the FA investigation...
And the humongous elephant in the Premier League room that is Man City and the 115 charges pending, covering over 10 years of alleged financial misconduct, financial doping and obstruction of the investigation... Which comes with sporting and diplomatic implications.
Admittedly, "financial doping...." I'm fairly certain Barcelona & Real Madrid certainly haven't been playing on a fair financial footing either (Madrid's dodgy sale of the training ground a decade or so ago) and how Barca can be in over £1bn debt but still sign players...
And that's before the dodgy FIFA deals.
It's hard to find the enthusiasm right now.
