#uidesign #history I've thrown together a 3-pane interface with GTK3 for a text conferencing system (CIX CoSy) and it occurs to me that the model might fit Mastodon and probably others quite well.

Can anyone please shed light on which historical applications we have to thank for this sort of interface? Conferences (areas of interest, or maybe # tags) on the left, threads on the top showing the tree structure with first lines of text at the top, full text of one message in the bottom pane.

Keep tapping <space> to skip to the next unread message, left cursor to work up the tree of comments to comments toward the root. It's been done again and again, but who dunnit first? :-)
