The #occupation has ended

We are being threatened with judicial #prosecution for protesting against #genocide.so we are leaving.

But we _will_ be back.

Yesterday, we occupied the rectorate in an escalation to further pressure on the #university.

Our rector (Petra De Sutter) called the police and had her own students and staff members violently arrested.

I we won't leave the occupations, legal consequences will follow for 3 students that were identified.

Us leaving UFO does not mean our fight is over. We'll keep protesting until we've achieved a FULL academic boycott.

When we, the #students, raise our voice, when we come to your doorstep to demand action, when the university can't ignore us anymore, the #Ugent seds the #police to #repress their students!

Today we saw 50 riot cops, 10 police vans, 5 dogs, over 20 #wounded and 2 hospitalized students!

How many times we heard we were a 'safety risk'? Today, UGent has shamelessly risked our safety!

After days of pressure, #UGent rector Petra De Sutter is finally coming to our open spokescouncil inside the occupied Refaat Alareer - ufo- building.

Last week, the #university shut the door on public dialogue, unilaterally ended negotiations, and responded to student protest with an eviction order. They wanted closed-door talks with a small delegation. We refused.

An #academic #boycott of #Israeli institutions is not an internal issue to be managed behind closed doors. It is a topic that concerns the entire university community, and society at large.

Two years after UGent promised to cut 13 institutional ties, only ONE has actually been terminated.
On Monday, we demand public #accountability:
no more delays,
no more empty promises,
no more complicity.

De Universiteit Gent heeft vandaag de actievoerders die sinds 22 april een gebouw op Campus Coupure bezetten formeel gevraagd om de bezetting stop te zetten. De universiteit geeft de bezetters tijd tot vrijdag 8 mei om 10 uur om vrijwillig te vertrekken.
