"Nutrition" can be like magic, illustrated by this paper in Ped Res showing that colostrum (nasal instillation) is a strong stimulator of neurogenic growth of nerve tissue, in a murine model. Great basic science, looking fw to see if/how this can be translated in clinical research!

Thoughtful and provocative #UENPS talk by prof Dieter Wolke about long term outcomes (into adulthood) after being a preterm infant.
He makes so many important points, while we measure XYZ (IQ, ICD-codes, MRI changes, blood pressure etcetc), what matters to people are “life tasks”, such as making friends and relations, having own children. See slides for some data.

From the #UENPS radar - a wonderful example of tradition-based medicine: a survey study in Croatia on cord clamping and cord management revealed a strong regional pattern within Croatia, how the umbilical cord stump was managed.

(the #SweMed perspective, nothing is done with the umbilical cord except some parental advice about "light" cleansing with soap and water)
