I'm just catching up on the details of Australia's social media account ban for under 16s.
As always, thanks to Twomey for the help clarifying my thoughts.
It strikes me that if we had two relatively mundane technical things the constitutional argument about effectiveness would be weakened to a relative argument rather than a categorical argument.
* Interoperability suitable for standardised client-side parental controls
* Accountless anonymous speech, enabled by an excellent suite of tools for moderators
I'm not for the ban, but I imagine we should more or less have supported patterns for these things anyway on the #fediverse, even if it's just as a point of difference, and even if they're not things that we would generally want to construct community around as a priority. If you know more about it than me just imagining things, descriptions of prior art and corrections welcome.
